Review: GE XWFE Refrigerator Water Filter

After using the GE XWFE Refrigerator Water Filter for several months, I can confidently say that it has been a great addition to my kitchen. The filter is certified to reduce lead, sulfur, and over 50 other impurities, ensuring that the water I drink and use for ice is of the highest quality.

The installation process was a breeze, and I appreciate that no tools or turning off the water supply was necessary. Simply replacing the cartridge inside the refrigerator was all it took to start enjoying filtered water. The filter has a six-month lifespan, but I’ve found that the water flow remains consistent and the taste remains clean throughout that period.

One aspect that sets this filter apart is its compatibility with select GE french-door refrigerators. This guarantee of fit is important, as it ensures that the filter will seamlessly integrate with your refrigerator without any issues.

While the price of the filter is a bit on the higher side, it is worth it considering the benefits it provides. I love that it includes an RF chip, which allows the fridge to recognize when the filter has been replaced and remind me when it’s time for a new one. This ensures that I never forget to change the filter and continue to enjoy clean, filtered water.

I did come across some user feedback mentioning the high price and the lack of alternative options, and I agree that it would be great to have more affordable choices. However, given the peace of mind and the quality of the filtered water, I have been satisfied with this filter.

In conclusion, I highly recommend the GE XWFE Refrigerator Water Filter to anyone who prioritizes water quality and wants a reliable and efficient filter for their refrigerator. It delivers on its promises, providing clean and crisp water for drinking and ice. Despite the price, the convenience, effectiveness, and compatibility make it a top-notch choice in my book.

      1. The GE XWFE Refrigerator Water Filter has exceeded expectations in delivering clean and crisp water. Certified to reduce lead, sulfur, and over 50 other impurities, it ensures the highest quality water for drinking and ice. Replacing the filter every six months is a simple and effective maintenance routine, providing consistent results. The ease of installation is a bonus, making it convenient for users. The pack of 1 filter is a sufficient supply for regular replacements, ensuring optimal performance over time. The peace of mind that comes with knowing the water is filtered to high standards is invaluable. For those prioritizing water quality and seeking a reliable refrigerator water filter, the GE XWFE is a top-notch choice. Highly recommended for its effectiveness and ease of use.

      2. All stocked up for another year and a half! Water is nice and clear and tasteless. These filters are easy to install. A bit pricey, but cheaper than buying bottled water!

      3. As you might already know, the XWFE has an embedded rfid that lets the fridge know it has been replaced and enables it to remind you within 6 months that a new filter is needed. It is a bit expensive for a filter, but it does what it’s supposed to do. The red change filter light on the fridge is a nice to have, as I tend to procrastinate with the filter change. There’s a big difference between good filtered water, and tap water.

      4. I have this on auto-delivery because no offbrand filter will work with my new fridge. I’m sure that there’s a workaround to the chip attached to the filter, but I haven’t gotten that smart yet. It’s painfully over-priced. It’s easy to install and works just fine of course, but I don’t like having only 1 option.

      5. Do NOT buy knock offs of this water filter, been there, done that! The knock offs do not fit properly. If they fit, the water will not come out saying there is an error. The error is you got taken! The Amazon one above fits perfectly in GE refrigerators that recommend this model. These are easy to replace, push up and 1/4 turn, then fill water for a couple gallons, dump first few amounts of ice. Personally recommend turning off ice maker prior to replacing filter. Dump former ice bucket, do the water fills for a couple of gallons, then a days worth of ice dumps to clear the line that is still connected to ice maker.. then you are ready for filtered water and ice again for 6 months+.

      6. We have not had any issues with this filter. It was easy to install, seems to be working just fine, and our water tastes normal. We found the price to be slightly better than elsewhere for the same product as well.

      7. I bought this for my elderly parents and was surprised when it didn’t work. My mother told my father “You must have installed it wrong! Bill, come show your father how to do it right.” We followed all enclosed instructions and it gave nothing but an error message and would not function. Using the Amazon return for a defective product, they shipped a new one out immediately and it arrived the next day. This one plugged in and worked instantly. The defective item was dropped off at an Amazon Hub on my way somewhere else today with no questions or fuss.

I could remove a star for the first unit being defective, but every manufacturer has lemons and I won’t fault the item or manufacturer for that. This device has an RF chip so it can be recognized by the fridge and such a thing can get broken or corrupted easily while in transit; either by magnetism or physical damage that is invisible to the naked eye. This product works perfectly, even though the first one was a dud. It cost us nothing for the replacement and my father’s ego is on the mend.

5/5 stars for a quality item (the second one, at least)

      8. A cinch to install and was exactly the correct filter we needed for our refrigerator arrived within a day I believe or two from me ordering it popped it right in and it is working beautifully read your instructions make sure you charge the lines clear on and it has been wonderful so couldn’t ask for anything more
